His research focuses primarily on seventeenth-century French literature, particularly on the intersections between secular and religious rhetoric, spirituality, and philosophy. He recently completed, under the supervision of Pierre Lyraud, a master’s thesis on cordiality and the epistolary rhetoric of friendship in the correspondence of Saint Francis de Sales. The thesis, entitled Le Cœur en toutes lettres. Rhétorique de la cordialité dans les Lettres de saint François de Sales (1567-1622), was received with distinction. Riccardo is currently working on a doctoral dissertation devoted to the writing and uses of history in Pascal’s works.
